Inside bar stocks today. Every inside day, every F&O stock.

Stocks and indices whose whole day stayed inside the previous day’s high and low. An inside bar is a pause; the break of the “mother bar” range is what traders watch next.

What is an inside bar?

An inside bar (inside day) is a candle whose high is lower than, and low higher than, the previous candle. The previous candle is called the mother bar.

Why it matters

It shows the market contracting after a move. A close beyond the mother bar’s high or low is the usual trigger traders watch.

Combine with volume and trend

An inside bar near a 52-week high, or with an NR7, is a tighter setup. Low volume during the inside day is common; the volume on the break matters more.

End-of-day daily candles for NSE F&O stocks and major indices, adjusted for splits and bonuses, scanned after the close each trading day (by about 4:15 PM IST). A scan result is a setup to study, not a signal to trade. Information, not investment advice.

Questions

What are inside bar stocks?
Stocks whose daily high and low both stayed inside the previous day’s high and low. This page lists NSE F&O stocks and indices with an inside bar, updated after every close.
What is the mother bar?
The candle before the inside bar. Its high and low are the levels traders watch for a breakout or breakdown.
Is an inside bar bullish or bearish?
Neither by itself. It shows indecision; the direction comes from which side of the mother bar breaks, if any.
