Questions
Which stocks have the highest dividend yield?
Among actively traded NSE stocks that also paid a dividend the year before, the highest trailing 12-month yields today are: PTC India (21.1%), Jagran Prakashan (16.5%), Expleo Solutions (12.6%), CESC (9.0%), Indo Borax & Chemicals (8.7%).
How is dividend yield calculated here?
Every dividend that went ex-date in the last 12 months, added up per share (adjusted for later bonus and splits), divided by today’s share price. It looks back, not forward: future dividends can be cut.
Is a high dividend yield always good?
Not always. A yield can look high because the price has fallen sharply, or because the past year included a one-off special dividend. Check whether the company paid in earlier years too (the ‘Both years’ column).
